In Morris Plains, the sounds of clarinets and trumpets… trombones and cymbals;drums and saxophones are back….played by members of the Morris Plains Community Band…musicians from fourteen to ninety; all having fun playing music together. The band was reconvened in October 2015, and rehearses on Wednesday evenings. We typically perform up to twelve concerts a year in area senior residences, assistedliving facilities, fairs and festivals, concerts in the park etc. The band plays a variety of traditional concert band music, including favorites from Broadway and Hollywood, light classical selections, patriotic songs, and holiday tunes during the winter season. The Morris Plains Community Band is conducted by Larry Ripley, a retired musician and bandleader who is the third member of his family to lead a town band.
